November 4, 2020
Greetings!
DCA Digital Academy is honored to announce the winners of its 2020 eHealth Innovation Essay Writing Competition Award.
The essay writing competition was created for university students to participate and use this special #StayAtHome moments and apply their creative minds to contribute to a solution. Our goal was to help motivate students to understand the eHealth tech ecosystem in Africa and by extension the development of innovative digital systems for application of e-health systems to improve healthcare delivery. At the same time, it is intended to improve student proposal writing skills in making successful papers.
The DCA Digital Academy, the sponsor of our regular yearly prestigious Miss.Africa Seed-Fund Award received many entries in its inaugural essay contest from all corners of Africa highlighting how businesses, large and small, have done everything from changing their manufacturing lines to working with local food banks to ensure their communities and employees remained safe and taken care of throughout this pandemic.
“It was incredibly moving to read all the essays submitted for this contest,” said the Award committee. “Students across Africa have shown they are a force for good, and they gained a better understanding of the innovations and developments that are existing and those that can be applied to enhance the digital health sector especially in the time of COVID 19.”
The three top essays in this university competition were written by Ismail Abdullahi – University of Ibadan, Nigeria; Mr. Grivine Ochieng’- Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya; and Mr. Respicius J Msimbira, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
First place winner receives $250, the second place winner $150, and the third place winner $100 and certificates of recognition.
